Three Texans will get chances to play on the Champions Tour this year after their performances in the tour’s qualifying school. Robert Thompson of Houston and Perry Arthur of Plano shared sixth place with 284 totals in the 72-hole qualifying event at Eagle Trace in Coral Springs, Florida. Lindy Miller of Fort Worth finished at 290 to share 16th place. The top 30 and ties, including those with scores of 293 and lower, earned the chance to compete in qualifying events on Mondays for the right to join the fields for Champions Tour events. That’s a change from the past when the top eight earned cards and the next eight got conditional status. Wayne Wright of Fort Worth missed by two strokes.
