“Build it and they will come,” is what the Kevin Coster character said in the movie Field of Dreams. Putting up a golf course in the middle of a neighborhood with smaller lots lined up row after row just does not work as it once did. Instead developers in the Hill Country, which offers some of the best weather conditions imaginable, are using big name architects to build quality golf courses in upscale golf communities that include many other amentities. Here are just a few of the many choices that golfers have now.

The newest Jack Nicklaus signature golf course at Cordillera Ranch is classic Hill Country. Natural creeks and eye-catching water features wind through the course’s rolling fairways while strategic elevation changes, canyon walls and outcroppings of limestone shape this layout which can be stretched to 7,477 yards.

Escondido - Marble Falls
The 7,027-yard, par-71 Tom Fazio design incorporates Fazio’s understated but unmistakable resort style aesthetics with what nature gave him to work with. Spring-fed creeks, granite outcroppings and lush, rolling fairways set up a playable, but memorable layout.
